This is a good question as it is not immediately obvious actually. A Vacation Rental can most easily be described as a furnished accommodation available for shorter term stays without having to sign a permanent rental contract or a lease.

Vacation Rental Accommodations are most often second homes, summer cottages, extra suites, or condos that the owner does not use all the time. The owner then agrees to list their home with us, the vacation rental company, and we market the furnished home to travelers who are looking for an alternative to staying in a hotel.

You might ask, why would someone not want to stay in a hotel? Well there are several reasons really. If you have a large group, renting a 5 bedroom home that sleeps 10 will be quite a bit less expensive. The same level of quality in a hotel would be cost prohibitive.  Another advantage of a Vacation Rental is that you have access to a complete kitchen, allowing you to cook all your meals in house if you so desire. This can save a lot of money in cooking costs.

If you are a smaller group or even alone, a vacation rental accommodation van provide you with the ideal comfort level since it becomes your home away from home. With the warmth and comfort of a property furnished, not for high traffic like a hotel, but for a more homey feeling, being away for long periods is made easier when you use a vacation rental.

All in all, when vacationing for a longer term, renting furnished private accommodations is far superior to using a hotel in almost every way.
