Escape the action of Whistler Village to your own private retreat in peaceful Millars Pond, Whistler. Located less than a mile and a half from the Creekside base location of the Olympic Alpine skiing events, you will enjoy the tranquil setting of this log home situated at the top of a rock bluff overlooking picturesque Alpha Creek. Unlike many Whistler chalets, the house offers a surprising amount of privacy both from within and on the large rear deck.
An easy 45 minute walk from this Millars Pond location will take you right to the Creekside base, where the installation of a cabriole lift will carry alpine event ticket holders to the Timing Flats. Buses will also service the Millars Pond area so access to any and all Olympic events or Whistler Village itself will be but a short ride away. Should you have a vehicle, there is ample parking for four cars in the driveway.
This warm and welcoming chalet-style log construction home has four bedrooms, two on the main floor and two on the second floor. The kitchen has stainless appliances, granite countertops, heated terra cotta floor, gourmet espresso machine, plus all the usual appliances. The cozy sunken living room features large log accent beams, a wood burning fireplace, soaring ceilings, a dedicated wine fridge and of course, many interesting books ready for you to curl up with. There is also a premium stereo system, flat screen LCD TV, DVD and video player, XM satellite radio which can be broadcast throughout the house and outside, over 700 CDs and many DVDs for your listening and viewing pleasure.
The half-log steps wrap around the fireplace enhancing the chalet feel of this home and lead from the main floor to the upstairs landing and bedrooms. Upon reaching this upper landing you have commanding views of the sunken living room, vaulted ceiling, and the outdoors through the huge living room windows. The master bedroom features a log bed, private views of Whistler Mountain, ensuite bathroom with tub, double sinks, heated floors, and a relaxing yet invigorating steam shower. The other upstairs bedroom is bathed in afternoon light and is as cosy as grandmas guestroom. Both bedrooms have windows that open towards Alpha Creek-what better way to end the day than with sleep brought on by a babbling brook! The main level bedrooms are adjacent to the powder room and have lovely views of Whistler Mountain. The larger one has its own stereo, 50 flat screen TV, DVD, and private patio. On this level there is also a small laundry room with a recycling centre, front load washer and dryer, and laundry sink.
Outside, on the very private deck, an eight-person hot tub awaits to take the chill away from a busy day outside viewing the athletes. On sunny winter days, this south facing deck is a real hot spot and is even warm enough for an en-plein-air coffee break. Birds and squirrels are frequent visitors here.
Enjoy your Whistler experience to the fullest by recharging at this quiet location. In addition to all the Olympic action, winter activities are limitless in Whistler. The Peak 2 Peak lift now links the two mountains in an 11-minute gondola ride, the Village has an apres spot for every taste, the quiet cobblestone streets are filled with ski shops, pubs, restaurants, and galleries, and there is cross-country skiing at Lost Lake Park. Other options include dog sledding, snowmobiling, horse-drawn sleigh rides, tubing, tobogganing, snowshoeing, and touring by helicopter and snowcat. Even with a colossal event like the 2010 Olympics, more than 90 per cent of Whistlers skiable terrain will remain open to the public, so visitors can make the most of the snow when not watching the athletes compete.
